MNRE asks REIAs to move from vanilla-solar energy tenders
New Delhi: The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has asked the Renewable Energy Implementing Agencies (REIAs) to move away from floating vanilla-solar power tenders and focus on solar plus battery storage bids going forward. Responding to a starred question in Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Minister of New & Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi explained that with the declining cost of solar-plus-storage and dispatchable renewable power, there is a growing preference among Discoms and end procurers for such solutions.
CERC extends timeline for conversion of RE generating stations with solar hour access
New Delhi: The Central Electricity Regulatory Authority (CERC) has extended the time period for converting a renewable energy generating station (REGS), which is running with or without an energy storage system (ESS), as an entity with solar hour access. This extension also applies to renewable power park developers (RPPD) based on solar source and renewable hybrid generating stations (RHGS) that have a combination of solar power with another source, with or without ESS.
